THRISSUR: The third of the three sisters, who tried to end their lives by consuming poison at Attoor in the district, has died. Janaki (80) of Mandalamkunnu, who was under treatment died early Monday morning at 3 am. The three sisters attempted suicide by consuming pesticide last Friday. The younger sister Sarojini (75) died on that day itself. Devaki (83), the eldest sister died at the medical college on Saturday.

The initial conclusion is that the three committed suicide due to old age ailments and isolation. The neighbours on checking found the women lying in a weak and unconscious state and immediately alerted the authorities. On being informed, the Cheruthuruthy police immediately rushed them to Wadakkanchery District Hospital, but the life of Sarojini could not be saved. The body has been shifted to the medical college mortuary. The suicide note recovered by the police found that they had left their properties to Guruvayur devaswom.

The three were not married. The residents nearby said that after their father's death, they lived in complete isolation, without much contact with their close relatives or the community. There was no one to take care of them. Initial information is that they lived through pensions and other means, but more information has not been received about this.
