Capital city gears up for Attukal Pongala; Devotees line up, Aduppu Vettu at 9.45 am

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The capital city is all set to offer Pongala to Attukal Amma. The streets of Thiruvananthapuram are filled with lakhs of devotees since Tuesday early morning. Thousands of devotees are flocking to capital city to offer pongala Devotees have started preparations by setting up hearths on both sides of the roads.

After the Pantheeradi Pooja and Deeparadhana at 8.30 am, Shuddha Punyaha is at around 9.25 am. The pongala hearths will be lit at 9.45 am. The fire from the hearths will be spread to the hearths around the temple premises. When the announcement is heard from the temple along with the Chenda Mela and the sound of kathina firing, the devotees will lit fire to the hearths. After the noon pooja, nivedyam is at 2.15 pm. Deeparadhana will be held in the temple during the nivedyam time. Usha shribali and Uchha shribali will be held. There will be floral showers at the time of the nivedyam.
