Car driven by Parassala SHO found behind death of elderly man in Kilimanoor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been found that the car driven by Parassala Station House Officer (SHO) P Anil Kumar is behind the death of an elderly man in Kilimanoor. He has confessed to the crime. Anil Kumar said that a person hit the side of a car and then got up and walked away. He said another person was also there in the car. The vehicle that caused the death of Rajan (59) of Chenikuzhi in Kilimanoor, was found to be owned by Anil Kumar the other day.


This is an offense that can be punished for up to ten years. The investigation has been handed over to Attingal DySP Manjulal. On the day of the incident, Anil Kumar left the station for his house in Thattathumala without the permission of his superiors. It is reported that he did not stop the vehicle even after the accident occurred as he left without permission. The police have taken his car into custody. Top officers had earlier mentioned that if Anil Kumar is found guilty, action including suspension will be taken against him.


The vehicle was identified in an investigation focused on CCTV footage. The FIR says the vehicle was driven recklessly at high speed. Information was obtained that the vehicle was taken to a workshop after the accident and repaired. After being hit by the vehicle, Rajan lay bleeding on the road for about an hour. Locals found Rajan at around 6 pm and took him to the hospital. However, his life could not be saved.
