KANNUR: CPM state secretary MV Govindan has said that an effective investigation should be conducted into the death of Confidant Group owner CJ Roy. He also said that the family is making allegations against the Income Tax officials. Things are going in a way that such allegations can obviously be made and it is not known what is behind the raid, MV Govindan added.

'The person who shot himself to death is the owner of a large industrial chain. His brother and family are raising strong allegations about the background of the raid. It is understood that the raid continued for more than an hour and a half even after his death. Central agencies cannot take a humane stance. Anything found as part of the raid can be resolved guilelessly. An effective investigation should be conducted to find out why such a situation arose,' MV Govindan responded.

Roy committed suicide at around 3.15 pm yesterday at the corporate office of Confidant Group at Richmond Circle on Hosur Road near Anepala in Bengaluru. The raid was conducted in connection with the fundraising for real estate ventures. The first raid was conducted by officials from Kerala on December 28.

They returned on January 22, and continued the raid and sealed the office room. They returned three days ago and took steps to seize documents. Roy was questioned several times. It is reported that there was concern that he would be taken into custody when the inspection ended yesterday evening. Roy, who went to his chamber to get the key to the sealed locker, fired a gun at his chest.
