KOZHIKODE: Five UDF activists were arrested for hurling explosives towards the police during a clash that broke out in Perambra. The Perambra police had started an investigation and a case was registered on the allegation levelled by the LDF against the UDF for hurling explosives towards the police at that time.

The FIR said the explosives were thrown with the intention of causing harm to life and it exploded with a loud noise. The police said that after examining the footage, found the UDF workers throwing bottles at the police. The explosion can also be seen in the footages.

The Perambra police said the footage of the explosion is not like that which occurs when the police use grenades or tear gas. Shafi Parambil MP was injured in the clash in Perambra. The Rural SP's open statement that the police used lathi against Congress leaders including the MP without the orders of superiors, has also stoked a controversy. A case has been registered against around seven hundred people, including Shafi, in the clash.

The investigation is being led by Northern Region DIG Yatish Chandra and Vadakara Rural SP K E Baiju. The investigation team had visited the site of the explosion for further examination the other day. The dog squad and forensic officers reached the spot and inspected it.
