KANNUR: A cobra was found in the cardiology department of Pariyaram Medical College Hospital on Thursday. The snake was found in the toilet of the cardiology department. The snake was later caught by the employees of the hospital.

The bystanders of a patient in B Block first saw the snake crawling into the toilet. They immediately informed the hospital staff. They came, caught the snake and threw it out. Snakes have been found in Pariyaram Medical College earlier also. It is reported that snakes were found in the students hostels as well. People visiting the hospital said not cleaning the premises in the area and dumping of garbage are the reasons for the increase in snakes.

A venomous snake was found in the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital earlier. The bystanders noticed the snake coming out of the ICU. When they panicked and alerted, the authorities arrived and caught the snake. The snake entered the operation theater through a creeper that had spread to the eighth floor of the medical college.
