THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President K Sudhakaran MP has said that if Minister Saji Cheriyan is not ready to resign, then the Congress will strengthen the pressure. If the CPM does not take action against Saji Cheriyan who has insulted the constitution and violated the oath, then the Congress will simultaneously continue the agitation for resignation and legal action together, clarified Sudhakaran.

Congress has already communicated with legal experts on the matter. Legal action will be taken as soon as possible. On July 8, Congress will conduct a state-wide pledge to protect the Constitution at the constituency level and Panchayat level, said Sudhakaran. He was speaking to the media after paying last respects to Gandhian P Gopinathan Nair at Gandhi Bhavan in Thycaud.

'The CPM has always despised the Indian Constitution. Pinarayi Vijayan and other CPM leaders have expressed it from time to time depending on the occasion. The CPM's Kerala unit leadership is not functioning constitutionally following political traditions, practices and organizational structures. CPM works as per the interests of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. CPM has no faith in democracy and constitution. What right do the CPM and the Left parties who protect the minister who insulted the Constitution of India have to observe December 6 as Constitution Protection Day?', asked Sudhakaran.

'The Left Front has crossed all political etiquette. Even those who committed bigger crimes than Saji Cheriyan have not resigned yet. Even the allies of LDF have complaints about Saji Cheriyan's statement. CPM and Saji Cheriyan cannot pretend avoiding it. The CPM which now argues that Saji Cheryian's remarks were not unconstitutional and had earlier protested for the resignation of Balakrishna Pillai on account of the Punjab model speech. How can the CPM justify this?', asked Sudhakaran.
