CPM's reception meet after violating lockdown, hundreds attend

PATHANAMTHITTA: A reception meet of the CPM was held after violating lockdown on Sunday. The lockdown announced by the government was violated and the meet was convened on the public road in Thiruvalla Kuttoor. More than 100 people attended the function. The function was in the presence of state and district leaders.

A public meeting was held in Kuttoor in connection with the joining of other party families to the CPM. Forty-nine families have joined the CPM, according to party sources. They were received with blood garlands. State secretariat member K J Thomas and district secretary were present at the reception. The incident became controversial after the footages of the incident came out. CPM district secretary K P Udayabhanu confirmed that a reception was held in Kuttoor. He said that it was not a public meet and there was no crowd.

It is heard that the police have not registered a case in connection with the incident. The government imposed a lockdown on Sunday following the spread of Covid in the state. Police are taking strict action against violators including imposing fines.
