Crisis in plus one seats in Malabar: High Court slams govt’s claim

high-court

KOZHIKODE: The state government has come with a strange claim on the plea seeking more seats for plus one. The government informed that not a single student has complained about the shortage of plus one seats. The government raised the strange claim on the plea filed by the manager of Malappuram A R Nagar Higher Secondary School, who sought to allocate a new plus one batch considering the shortage of plus one seats in Malabar.

Only the school managers have approached the government complaining that there are no more plus one seats and sought a new batch. So far, no student or parent has raised a complaint about the shortage of plus one seats. The stand conveyed by the government through the affidavit is contained in the high court order.

The high court rejected the claim that the students and parents who go to schools in search of plus one seats will not have time to file complaints. The court also asked the state and district level committees to submit a detailed report within 15 days after checking whether there is a need for plus one batches.

Meantime, Education Department Minister V Sivankutty admitted in a press conference that there is a crisis in Malappuram plus one seat issue. He accused that the protests before the start of the first allotment are politically motivated. The education minister said that once the third phase allotment is over, the political games will end and all the problems will be solved.
