KOZHENCHERRY: An elephant named Sita goes berserk and jumped into the Pampa river while being taken for bathing. The elephant stayed in the water for about five hours, causing tension to manhouts and the natives. The incident took place at around 1 pm yesterday. At six o'clock in the the elephant came ashore.

The elephant belongs to Anil, a native of Thiruvananthapuram. It was taken for timber loading work near the Mookkannur Mahadeva temple for about a month. The elephant was taken for bath at the nearby river, when it became berserk and stayed in the middle of the river for about five hours. Although the manhouts tried to tame her, the attempts went futile. The elephant herself came ashore as the atmosphere began to get dark. It was tamed later. Elephant Guard, Fire Force and Police team members were stationed at Puthamankara to deal with any dangerous situation.
