ETTUMANOOR: Nobi Lukose, the Kottayam native accused of abetting in the suicide of his wife and daughters, was granted bail by court on Wednesday. The Kottayam District Sessions Court granted conditional bail to Nobi. He will be thus come out of jail after 28 days.
The bail order includes conditions such as not leaving the country, cooperating with the investigation team, and appearing when summoned by the investigating officer. The court granted bail without considering the prosecution's argument that the accused would destroy evidence and influence witnesses if allowed bail.
The police report said that Nobi’s mental torture led to Shiny and his daughters committing suicide by jumping in front of the train. Nobi’s attorney raised the argument that the police, despite blaming his client, were unable to find evidence against him. Shiny's father, Kuriakose, had filed a petition opposing Nobi's bail application.
On February 28, Shiny Kuriakose (43) and her children Alina (11) and Ivana (10) jumped in front of a train in a tragic case of suicide. The day before, Nobi and Shiny clashed verbally over the phone. The police report states that this phone call led to the mass suicide.
“If I am to visit home, all three of you should die. Can't you all die and give me some peace?" This was part of Nobi's conversation with Shiny on the day before the incident. Police found that Nobi was drunk at the time of this conversation.
