PARAVUR: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan said that Ezhavas are being marginalised in the Congress. "When the Congress was reorganised through communal consensus, the post of president was given to a Christian. Ezhavas got the insignificant post of UDF convener," Vellappally said. He was inaugurating the concluding session of the Sree Narayana Darshanotsavam organised by Yogam Paravur Union.
“I stood firm on what I said in Malappuram because it was true. There is not a single college for the Ezhava community in the Malappuram district. All 17 colleges belong to wealthy individuals from the Muslim community. Government money is used for salaries here. The Ezhava community, which constitutes one-third of the population of Kerala, has only 13 colleges. There is not a single college in seven districts. When I criticised the politics of the Muslim League, which denied social justice and built empires under the influence of power, it was interpreted as me criticising Malappuram and the Muslim community. My effigy was burned in many places for this. They stopped that when Yogam activists started burning the effigy of Thangals in response to this. This is an example of how a community can only survive if it is strong through organisation. When those who formed the reservation front and protested came to power, the Narendran Commission conducted special recruitment for the Muslim community. The demands of SNDP Yogam, which stood with them, were not accepted. Ezhavas are always being deceived everywhere. This is the time when there should be awareness along with knowledge. Everyone interprets Guru according to their convenience. Guru is God to us, and we can know the divinity of Guru through Guru's work," said Vellappally.
Union Chairman C.N. Radhakrishnan presided over the function. The Chief Guest, Minister P. Rajeev, honored the General Secretary, who has completed three decades under the leadership of Yogam.
