THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports say the police have filed a request to conduct a lie detector test on employees in the incident of the gold that went missing from Padmanabhaswamy temple. The Fort Police filed the request in the Judicial Magistrate's Court seeking permission to subject eight employees to lie detector tests.

The missing rod of 13 sovereigns was later found covered in soil on the ground. The gold was found near the north nada, 30 meters away from the strong room. DCP Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh had said at that time that he suspected that it was dumped in the soil when thought would be caught in the case.

The gold was found near the area where renovation work is being carried out inside the north nada. The rod was lying in between the security room where the gold is kept and the area where the maintenance is being carried out. Work is underway to replace the old gold plate on the door in front of the shrine and cover it with a new one. When the work that had been temporarily suspended resumed, it was discovered that one of the gold rods was missing. The police were then informed. A detailed inspection and questioning, including using a metal detector, were carried out. In between this, gold was found lying the soil. An inspection had been conducted in the same location before that, but was not found then.
