KOCHI: The High Court has dismissed the stay petition filed by actress Ranjini against the release of the report of the Justice Hema Committee appointed by the state government to study the problems faced by women in the film industry. The court directed to approach the single bench. Ranjini responded she will move forward with the case.

Ranjini had approached the High Court the day before when the Hema Committee report was to be released on August 17. The actress had approached the court to ensure that there is no violation of privacy in the released report.

It was said in the petition that she had given a statement before the Hema Committee and that copies should be made available to those who gave the statement. With this, the government has reached a decision to release the report after the verdict.

The actress later clarified that she did not say that the Hema Committee report should not be released, but that as the person who had given the statement, it was difficult for her to see it being published without knowing the contents.

The High Court will also consider the petition filed by producer Saji Mon Parayil in this regard today. It is indicated that there are statements against prominent people in the report. Although there is no problem in the main part containing findings and recommendations, it is reported that there is shocking information in the supplementary report.

Meanwhile, the Department of Cultural Affairs has informed the applicants that the Hema committee report will be released today by five o'clock.
