KOCHI: The High Court has lashed out at the government over the issue of flex boards. The court's single bench pointed out that major political parties are repeatedly violating court orders. Justice Devan Ramachandran criticized that one cannot close the eyes while travelling through Kollam. The court was hearing petitions concerning the unauthorized installation of flex boards and hoardings in public spaces.

The court noted that nearly 200 complaints had been received regarding the widespread presence of flex boards in Kollam city. However, many complainants, including doctors and lawyers, requested anonymity due to fear of repercussions. The court acknowledged the progress made in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, where flex boards were removed, resulting in cleaner cities. It also criticized those installing flex boards in pursuit of fame, stating that such practices are outdated and that people are capable of understanding issues without the need for these boards. The court added that such a disregard for regulations is not seen in other parts of the world.
