IB officer Megha's death: Police to question boyfriend, issue notice to Kochi IB unit

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/ KONNI: The police will interrogate the boyfriend of Immigration Intelligence Bureau officer Megha (25) in connection with her suicide in Thiruvananthapuram. Megha, who was serving at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, was found dead on the railway tracks. As part of the probe, authorities will issue a notice to the Kochi IB unit. Megha’s father, Madhusoodanan, alleged on Saturday that Sukant Suresh, an IB officer from Kochi, had financially exploited her.

At the time of her death, Megha’s bank account held only Rs 80. Her February salary, credited on the 28th, had been transferred to Sukant’s account. Megha had often told her colleagues that she didn’t even have money for food. Bank statements confirm that she had transferred money to Sukant multiple times. Her father has handed over Megha’s bank statement and ATM card to the police.

Though Megha had informed her colleagues that she was sending money home, her parents confirmed that they had never requested any financial assistance. Meanwhile, Sukant had occasionally transferred small sums to Megha for her expenses.

In recent weeks, Megha had become increasingly withdrawn, engaging less in conversations, her father revealed. Her colleagues learned more about her emotional and financial struggles when they visited her home for the funeral.

Megha was found dead on the railway tracks near Chackai on March 24th. According to the loco pilot’s statement, she was walking along the tracks while talking on the phone. On spotting the approaching train, she suddenly lay down on the tracks with her head positioned towards the rails.
