THRISSUR: The investigation team will record the statement of Revenue Minister K Rajan in the case in connection with the disruption of Thrissur Pooram. The minister was in Thrissur when the Pooram was going on. K Rajan had earlier said that there was a lapse from the side of the police. The statement is being registered as part of the investigation conducted by the DGP in connection with the failure of ADGP M R Ajith Kumar.
Meantime, the minister has informed the investigation team that he will give time to record his statement after the assembly session. The minister informed that he is busy until the session. The session ends today. After recording the minister's statement, the statement of M R Ajith Kumar will be registered.
The government had announced a three-tier investigation in the case. An investigation on the lapse from the side of the ADGP, the crime branch investigation on the conspiracy in disrupting pooram and the investigation by the then Intelligence ADGP Manoj Abraham regarding the investigation of other departments except the police. Manoj Abraham had submitted the report to the government. The report has not been submitted in the other two investigations. No complaints have been filed against any department except the police in the Pooram disruption. Yet, there were allegations that the investigation was announced to make everyone suspicious and save the culprits.
In the DGP's first investigation, Ajith Kumar stated that the responsibility of conducting the Thrissur Pooram lies with the district administration and the district police. ‘The responsibility of the police is to control the crowd. Arrangements were made as per the high court guidelines and government protocol. The district administration did not allow this. It was decided to implement the guidelines vigorously. The police made a comprehensive plan for this. People from one devaswom deliberately created problems for the police,' ADGP MR Ajith Kumar said.
