CHERTHALA: The Crime Branch received crucial evidence in the disappearance of Ettumanoor native Jainamma. Forensic examination confirmed that the blood stains found at the house of the accused, Sebastian, belonged to Jainamma. The examination also revealed that the gold ornaments that Sebastian had pawned at a private bank in Cherthala and then sold at a gold shop in the city also belonged to Jaynamma.

Jayne Mathe, alias Jainamma (56), went missing under mysterious circumstances on December 23, 2024. An investigation centred on a phone tower led to the arrest of Sebastian, a native of Pallipuram. On the 28th, charred bone fragments were found in Sebastian's house compound. These were sent for DNA testing.

Sebastian met Jainamma at a meditation centre in Pala. The investigation team had confirmed that Sebastian had a relationship with Bindu Padmanabhan, a native of Kadakkarappally, who went missing in 2006, and Hayrumma (Aisha), who went missing on May 13, 2013. Sebastian, who was produced in court on Wednesday after the custody period, was remanded until the 26th.
