THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government may not join as a party in the case to be filed in High court against the Governor's stay on posting of Priya Varghese by Kannur University. Minister R Bindhu said that the appointment is made by the university and the responsibility lies with the Vice Chancellor. Minister P Rajeev also clarified that the government is not a party in the issue between univeristy and Chancellor. The university will file a case stating that the stay issued without giving a cause notice to the VC, Syndicate and Interview Committee is violation of law.

BJP leader and Minister of state V Muraleedharan supported the Governor's action. Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala criticised the VC's decision to approach the court. Meanwhile, Priya Varghese alleged that stay on her appointment was a political drama.
