Kodi Suni, others drink alcohol on way back from court; footage surfaces

THALASSERY: Footage has surfaced showing TP case accused Kodu Suni and his gang consuming alcohol while under police escort. The incident reportedly occurred in the courtyard of a hotel in Thalassery, where friends allegedly provided liquor to the accused during their return from court. Among those present with Kodu Suni were fellow TP case accused Muhammad Shafi and Shinoj.

Three civil police officers from Kannur — Vaishakh, Vineesh, and Jishnu — all attached to the Armed Reserve (AR) camp, were suspended the other day in connection with the incident.

The incident took place on July 17 while the accused, housed in Kannur Central Jail, were being taken to the Thalassery Additional District Court for a hearing. On their return from the court, they consumed alcohol at a hotel where they had stopped for a meal. Disciplinary action against the police officers was initiated after the incident came to public attention. This is not the first controversy surrounding Kodu Suni, who had earlier faced allegations of using a mobile phone inside prison.
