THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC's new seater cum sleeper bus met with an accident. The hybrid bus was seriously damaged in the accident that occurred before its maiden service. Reports said the accident happened in Hosur on its way to Thiruvananthapuram from the body manufacturing factory in Bengaluru. The lorry in front suddenly applied a brake and the bus hit the back of the lorry. At the same time, the lorry coming from behind also hit the back of the bus. However, there are no casualties. The front and rear parts of the bus have been damaged.
The body manufacturing company is responsible for the bus until it is delivered from the body manufacturing factory to Thiruvananthapuram. Therefore, the company's driver was driving the bus. The official explanation is that the accident occurred when the manufacturer was driving the bus. However, it is not clear whether the body manufacturing company will do the repair works. The bus that met with the accident has been taken to the manufacturing company itself.
Meantime, as the accident pictures had gone viral on social media, comments are flooding in against the KSRTC and the government. Most of the comments are against the government's refusal to paint KSRTC's luxury buses white, which insisted on painting tourist buses white. 'If it had been white...' is one comment. Thus, the record of an accident before the start of the service is now owned by KSRTC buses.
The nickname of seater cum sleeper buses is the last word in luxury. The seats and berths are in a 2+1 layout. Wide leather seats are also provided in this one. The berths are above the seats. A single berth on one side and a double berth on the other side. Along with AC vents, mobile charger, mobile holder, luggage rack, it also has systems including ambient lights, CCTV camera and fire alarm. Seater cum sleeper buses which started service are receiving great acceptance.
