Lorry carrying bricks to Irikkur in Kannur overturns to a mosque leaving driver injured

KANNUR: A lorry carrying red stones overturned to a mosque. The accident happened at Irikkur in Kannur around 12 noon today. The lorry carrying bricks from Kalyadu lost control and rammed onto the mosque. The driver was trapped inside the cabin as the lorry overturned in the accident.

Rescue operations was led by Mattanur Fire Department and the police. The rescue mission was hampered for a while when the crane brought to lift the lorry suffered a glitch. Later tried to pull the driver out through another system. The wall of the mosque building collapsed after the accident. A major tragedy was averted as there was no one in the mosque at the time.

Although the lorry driver was injured, he did not lose consciousness. He spoke to the police and rescue workers. The driver was rescued by breaking the rear window of the lorry.
