KOCHI: Bhanupriya is now on cloud nine. The multilingual film 'If on a Winter's Night' (Khidki Gaav), in which she has acted as a heroine, is being screened at the 30th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. Bhanupriya is also participating in the festival. The film is being screened in the Asian Vision section at the festival, which will be held from the 17th to the 26th.
Khidki Gaav is a survival story of lovers after they arrive in New Delhi from the southernmost tip of Kerala. Although it is a multilingual film, most of the dialogue is in Malayalam. 'Khidki Gaav' is directed by Sanju Surendran and is the fourth film of Bhanupriya, a native of Sreekandapuram, Kannur. The English title is ‘If on a Winter's Night’. Cannes Film Festival award winner Payal Kapadia is the co-producer of the film.
Kuchipudi dancer and radio jockey Bhanupriya became the lead in Khidki Gaav through Abhija Sivakala, with whom she co-starred in the film Charles Enterprises. Bhanupriya's filmography includes Madras Matinee and David. Bhanupriya is the daughter of the late Purushothaman Namboothiri and Priyamvada. Sister: Poornima.
