THRISSUR: Following the defeat of UDF candidate K Muraleedharan in Thrissur, a fight has erupted within the district leadership of the Congress. Posters were pasted on the DCC office wall against Congress leader TN Prathapan and Thrissur DCC President Jose Vallur. The posters read, 'Jose Vallur should resign' and 'No seat for Prathapan even in the ward election'.

The rift and dispute within the Thrissur Congress following Muraleedharan's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections was exposed with this. Although the posters were soon removed, the fight that erupted in the Thrissur Congress over Muraleedharan's defeat might intensify further. Earlier, K Muraleedharan had come out against the leadership following his defeat in the election.

Muraleedharan alleged that none of the leaders came to campaign for him and there was no significant activity at the organizational level. He said that if he had contested in Vadakara itself, he would have won and should not have stood for sacrifice. A section of Congress workers turned against Prathapan and Jose Vallur after Muraleedharan's emotional outburst. Both TN Prathapan and Jose Vallur have not yet responded to the incident.

People will decide if I was offered as sacrifice
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Thrissur several times to campaign for NDA candidate Suresh Gopi. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also came for LDF candidate VS Sunil Kumar. But no one came for me," Muraleedharan complained.
