PALAKKAD: In a shocking development, the husband of a young woman in Palakkad admitted to strangling her to death in what was earlier considered a natural death. The incident took place in Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad. Vaishnavi (26), daughter of Unnikrishnan, of ‘Cholakkal house’ in Anamangad, Perinthalmanna, Malappuram, died in the incident. Her husband Dikshit has been arrested.

On the 9th of this month, Dikshit brought Vaishani to Mangad Medical College Hospital, saying that she complained of physical discomfort. The relatives were also informed, but to the shock of all, Vaishnavi died while undergoing treatment. The postmortem report said that the woman died of suffocation.

Vaishnavi and Dikshit got married a year and a half ago. Mannarkkad Dysp confirmed this as a case of murder. The police also stated that the accused confessed to the crime during interrogation. According to police, Dikshit committed the crime after suspecting his wife of having an extramarital affair. A forensic team had also inspected Dikshit’s house.
