THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will soon present the bill drafted to end tensions between Orthodox and Jacobite factions in the state assembly. The bill which was earlier drafted in the LDF meeting will seek a poll between the factions and the side occupying a 3:2 majority will get the authority to decide the Vicar for the diocese.

The new law is deftly planned and won't intrude into the ambit of the supreme court-held verdict which is in favor of the orthodox faction. If the new law is not followed, the government can impose a fine of Rs 10000 or can give an imprisonment period of six months. A collector-led authority is also formed which will inspect whether the rules are being followed across the archdiocese of Malankara churches. The new law will also allow the two factions to take turns and conduct the holy Qurbana according to their customs.
