THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The family of the Kerala nuns expressed relief after news emerged of the duo securing bail from the NIA court in Chhattisgarh. The family members were visibly emotional and expressed their gratitude to all the people who stood by them to help the nuns secure bail. Sister Preethi's relatives also requested that the case be withdrawn without going into further proceedings.
“We are at peace. We prayed a lot and we thank god for the happy news. We thank the administrators and church leaders who stood by us. Our MLA has been with us since the day of the arrest. We remember him with special gratitude. The workers of all political parties, voluntary organisations and local leaders stood by us. Thank you to all of them. The media also helped us a lot by taking it as a public issue. We demand that the case be withdrawn without going into further procedures. No one should have to experience this again,” said Sister Preethi's relatives.
“Many threw stones at him for something that happened in Chhattisgarh. However, Rajeev Chandrashekar cared not to respond to the criticism, as his sole focus was on the mission to help the Kerala nuns. He met with both PM Modi and the Home Minister to address concerns. He is a man who will not back out from any mission he has undertaken,” said BJP leader Shaun George while responding to the bail news.
