Prayers answered; Mammootty recovers, to resume acting in October

KOCHI: Malayalam’s legendary actor Mammootty has made a full recovery and will make his first public appearance on his birthday, September 7. He is expected to return to acting a month later. The news of his recovery was shared on Facebook by his personal makeup man and Mammootty Kampany MD S. George, along with close friend and producer Anto Joseph. Actor Mohanlal also expressed his joy by posting a photo of himself kissing Mammootty, accompanied by a love emoji.

Mammootty had been under treatment and rest for the past seven months at Apollo Hospital. All modern tests, including PET scans, confirmed that there was no trace of illness in his body. Doctors declared him fully recovered after the endoscopy result also came out normal yesterday. The ailment, which was found at the end of the large intestine, was successfully treated thanks to early detection. Sources close to Mammootty told Kerala Kaumudi that he is now in good health at his residence in Chennai.

Actors Manju Warrier, Maala Parvathi, directors Sibi Malayil, Jude Anthany Joseph, actor Ramesh Pisharody and many other film personalities shared their happiness on social media. Thousands of fans also commented with wishes. Mammootty’s nephew Ashkar Saudan wrote on social media that the actor had recovered completely and that there would be a big announcement on September 7.

Next Film: Kalankaaval

Mammootty’s next release will be Kalankaaval, directed by newcomer Jithin K. Jose. He will first complete the dubbing for this film, which is set to release in October. After that, he will resume acting with a film directed by Mahesh Narayanan, which also stars Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban. Mammootty has already shot some portions for the film. Several other projects with Mammootty in the lead are also in the pipeline. Even during his rest, he was listening to stories and discussing projects over the phone.
