MALAPPURAM: The Election Commission has declared a public holiday in the Nilambur Assembly constituency on June 19, the day of the by-election. A dry day has also been announced for 48 hours prior to the election. Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Rathan U Kelkar said that all schools and government institutions in the constituency will remain closed on the election day.

With former MLA P.V. Anvar entering the race alongside candidates from the major political alliances, Nilambur is poised for a highly competitive by-election. This crucial contest takes place just months before Kerala’s upcoming assembly elections. The key contenders include Aryadan Shoukath representing the UDF, M. Swaraj from the LDF, and Mohan George for the BJP.
