PATHANAMTHITTA: Rahul Mamkootathil MLA arrested in a rape case, has been remanded. Rahul was produced at the residence of the judge of Pathanamthitta Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court, as his three-day police custody ended today. The court remanded Rahul after the investigation team did not file a custody plea again.

Rahul will be shifted to Mavelikkara special sub jail. Prior to this, he was taken to Pathanamthitta General Hospital for a medical examination. Detailed arguments related to Rahul's bail plea will be held tomorrow at the Thiruvalla Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. Advocate Shasthamangalam Ajith is appearing in the court for the defendant.

The defendant is arguing that the story is fabricated, rape charge does not exist in the case, and that the correct criteria were not followed in the proceedings including arrest.
