THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central Meteorological Department has announced an orange alert in the Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts. Isolated heavy rains are also predicted. Six districts are on yellow alert. Yellow alert has been announced today in the Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kannur districts.
Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that until June 6, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala, along with strong winds that may blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour. Meteorological Department has also warned that there is a possibility of rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.
A yellow alert has been announced in the Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts tomorrow; in the Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Wednesday; in the Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Thursday; in the Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts on Friday; and in the Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Saturday.
