THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy rainfall will continue across the state in the coming hours. According to the latest bulletin, a yellow alert has been declared in 11 districts today. The districts under yellow alert today are Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. A yellow alert has also been issued for next Tuesday (April 6) in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Palakkad districts. The forecast predicts isolated heavy rain.
Heavy rain is defined as rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
In the coming hours, an orange alert has been declared in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode. This alert is valid for the next three hours. A yellow alert remains in place for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. The IMD has also warned of the possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in isolated places and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h.
