KASARGOD: CPM leader PV Bhaskaran from Udma has responded to his daughter’s allegation that she was being confined at home because of her relationship with a man from another religion. Bhaskaran said that his daughter’s claims were not true and that he would have supported her marriage regardless of caste or religion. “What matters most to me is my daughter’s life and well-being. She has been paralysed below the waist, and that is my biggest concern,” he told reporters at a press conference.
P.V. Bhaskaran’s words:
“I have provided all the necessary facilities for my daughter’s treatment and comfort. Rashid came into the picture during her treatment, but his approach was not appropriate. His own wife has filed a harassment case against him. There are also suspicions that he is involved in drug dealings. I went to his hometown, Kottappuram, to learn more about him, but no one there had a good opinion of him,” Bhaskaran said.
“How can I send my daughter with someone who is not respected by his own family or community? I visited his place along with local Jamaat leaders to confirm the facts. My daughter Sangeetha was paralysed below the waist after an accident. She has been awarded Rs 1.5 crore as compensation, and I believe Rashid’s real motive is to get that money. He approached the court through a friend only for that reason. The facts being reported in the media are not true,” Bhaskaran added.
Earlier, Bhaskaran’s daughter Sangeetha had released a video on social media alleging that she had been kept under house arrest for the past five months. She said her only “crime” was falling in love with a man from another religion. Sangeetha also claimed that her father had done things that no father should ever do to his daughter.
