THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The E-Pos machine in ration shops continues trouble. It stopped working for the second day in a row. Yesterday's issue was also that biometric information was not collected when the finger was placed on the E-PoS machine.
Instead, ration distribution was continued by entering the OTP received on the card holder's mobile phone in the E-PoS machine. It takes a lot of time.
The yellow and pink card members of the priority category have to place their hand twice for 5 kg of free rice from the Centre in addition to the regular ration allocation. Or else get the OTP must be received twice. Due to the E-PoS failure, these people suffer a lot.
The problem started on Monday itself. Only 3.19 lakh people were given ration that day. On Tuesday and Wednesday it was about four lakh people. In the last weeks of the month, twice this ration is given to the card holders. So far this month, only 61.3% card holders have been able to get ration. Three days left. Even though the E-PoS failure in the last week of the month continues for years, the Food and Civil Supplies department and IT departments have not been able to find an effective solution.
