
BENGALURU: Gold was seized from the house of Unnikrishnan Potty, arrested in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case. 176 grams of gold were seized from Potty’s house in Srirampura, Karnataka. The Special Investigation Team is continuing the search at Unnikrishnan Potty's house.
It is learnt that land transaction documents have also been seized. The Special Investigation Team conducted evidence collection at Unnikrishnan Potty's flat in Srirampura, Bengaluru, at 10 am today. Gold coins and Rs two lakh were found from Unnikrishnan Potty's house in Pulimath in Thiruvananthapuram earlier today.
The officials of the investigation team said that the gold smuggled from Sabarimala will be produced in the High Court soon. The officials said that the aim is to collect maximum evidence before Potty's custody time ends.
This gold was recovered from Roddam Jewellery in Ballari, run by Unnikrishnan Potty's friend and businessman Govardhan. Gold bars weighing more than 500 grams were taken into custody. Govardhan claimed innocence and said he was unaware of the gold theft in Sabarimala. Govardhan said that he did not know any further information related to the Sabarimala issue. Potty was taken to Govardhan’s residence in Ballari and was questioned together.
