KOZHIKODE: The Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to actor Koottickal Jayachandran over an alleged sexual harassment case of a minor. The court directed the actor to be released on bail in case of arrest.
The court directed the actor to cooperate with the investigation and appear when requested by the investigating officers. The court also clarified that the police can intervene to cancel the bail if Jayachandran violates the bail conditions.
The Kozhikode Kasaba police have registered a POCSO case in the incident that took place last year.
According to the case: The minor’s father and mother are separated. The girl was allegedly molested at her mother’s house. When visiting her grandmother’s house for her father’s death function, the minor revealed all details of the torture to her grandmother. She repeated her statement to the psychologist and the magistrate. A medical examination found injuries that suggested torture.
The case was registered on the complaint of the child's mother. However, Jayachandran's lawyer informed the court that the complaint against his client was related to a family dispute.
