Scooter went out of control: Miraculous escape for mother and son who fell into well

PATHANAPURAM: A mother and son who fell into a well from an out-of-control scooter miraculously escaped with minor injuries. Anju (32) and her son Shreyas (7) were the survivors.

The accident took place near the Vattappara church in Kottavattom, Kunnicode at around 3.30 pm yesterday. The mother, along with her son, was returning to her husband's house in Punalur Mathra after going to her family home in Kottavattom, Kunnicode. The scooter lost control while Anju was giving way to another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

The scooter stopped after hitting the fence of the well, but Anju (32) and Shreyas were thrown into the well at the impact of the crash. The impact of the scooter's fall broke both the pillars of the well. It was fortunate that it did not fall into the well. Hearing the screams, the MGNREGA workers and locals who were working nearby used ropes and chairs to bring the two out. They were then taken to a private hospital in Punalur. Locals said that they fell into the well in an uninhabited yard. The Pathanapuram Fire Force also reached the spot.
