KOZHIKODE: The mortal remains of truck driver Arjun, who died in the Shirur landslides, were brought to his hometown in Kannadikkal in Kozhikode on Saturday. Thousands have thronged to the house to pay homage to their native boy while the cremation will take place at 11 am. Vehicles are restricted in the area.

The ambulance carrying the dead body entered Kozhikode district at around 6:30 in the morning. Minister AK Saseendran and Kozhikode District Collector received the dead body on behalf of the state government.

His son's toy lorry, Arjun's watch, shoes, phones, pressure cooker, steel utensils, documents and bags found in the lorry's cabin were loaded into the ambulance. As the journey from Karwar started at night, the Karwar district administration requested people not to crowd on the roadsides to pay respects to Arjun. The Kerala government bears the entire cost of the ambulance provided by the Karwar district administration.

Karnataka government will give Rs 5 lakh to Arjun's family. Karwar MLA Satish Krishna Sail will hand over the compensation to Arjun’s family. Sail will return only after attending the cremation.
