KANNUR: The CPM had the other day expelled district committee member V Kunhikrishnan following the martyrs' fund controversy. A bike parked at the house of a person who staged protests in favor of Kunhikrishnan was set ablaze. The bike of Bellur native Prasannan was burnt. A section had accorded a reception to V Kunhikrishnan in Payyannur the other day soon after the party expelled him. Prasannan shouted slogans in favour of Kunhikrishnan. The bike was set on fire by the attackers after taking it from his courtyard to a far-off place.

Meantime, Kunhikrishnan soon after the action was taken against him, responded that he stands firm on his allegations levelled against the CPM. There was a delay in presenting the fund accounts to the party. The account was presented after three years. By then, some leaders had added new expenses. The account presented was a figure that made the Payyannur area committee members as fools. The fund collection account was presented to the area committee just before the 2021 party conference.

When the building construction figures were presented, there was no money collected from the cooperative employees. They raised this in the committee after correcting the errors. The figures could have been presented in the 2021 session itself after correcting the errors. However, the figures were presented in the 2024 party session. Kunhikrishnan alleged that the figures could not be presented because the amount of Rs 70 lakhs was not in hand.
