Suresh Gopi's historic win: Congress leader loses WagonR car worth four lakhs

GURUVAYUR: Exhilaration can sometimes go overboard. The best example would be the fate of a congress leader in Thrissur who lost his Maruti WagonR only because of Suresh Gopi’s victory in the district.

Chavakkad Agricultural Development Bank director and Congress leader Thekkan Baiju had placed a bet with BJP activist Chilli Suni over the winning contestant in Thrissur. According to the conditions mentioned in the bet, Thekkan earlier agreed to give away his Wagon R car to Chilli Suni on condition that Suresh Gopi win Thrissur, while Suni would have had to give away his swift Dzire car in return if the election had gone the other way.

It was an idle talk over politics at a tea shop in Chavakkad that later added vigour within the two Thrissur natives to end up in a bet. The video of the bet also went viral on social media pages. With election results on Tuesday announcing a historic win for Suresh Gopi, Baiju showed propriety and assured that he would walk his talk and hand over the car to Suni.

As soon as Suni gets out from the busy victory celebrations of the BJP, Baiju will hand over the car to him, in front of all witnesses. Baiju's Wagon R car, a vintage model will cost anywhere around four lakh in the current market.

Bettors in Kerala turned active after finding a conducive climate following the election season. Bettors mostly concentrated on Vadakara, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Pathanamthitta districts. Some others took vows to shave half of their moustache in Vadakara on condition that Shafi win Vadakara. Social media is now actively searching for these people who have gone into oblivion after Shafi’s win.

Some others promised to offer Biriyani for one week to his opponent who supported the other candidate. In most cases, the betting season was a disaster for those who backed the LDF.
