NEW DELHI: The state government has approched the Supreme Court before the governor regarding the appointment of interim VC of the Technical University. The higher education department, through government advocate Harshad V Hameed, filed the counter petition. The plea is that the court should not take a decision without hearing the side of the state government if the governor files a petition.
The High Court had clarified that the government should nominate the name of the interim vice-chancellor and that the appointment of Ciza Thomas was not canceled as it was a decision taken by the governor under special circumstances. The state government filed the counter petition amid reports that the governor may approach the Supreme Court seeking clarification on the order. However, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said in Delhi that he will not approach the Supreme Court against the High Court order. There is no direction by High Court to replace temporary VC. The governor responded that he did not seek legal advice from anyone and that the government filed the counter petition was their matter.
