NEYYATTINKARA: A safe locker was found from a well during cleaning. The incident took place near a bull market in Aralummoodu. An old iron locker, weighing around 60 kilograms, suspected to be used for keeping gold was found while cleaning an abandoned well, last day.
The locker, covered in mud, was found during the cleaning conducted ahead of the Neyyar Mela. It was found by Palmani, a native of Uchakkada, and a six-member gang. After being informed about the incident, the Neyyattinkara police soon reached the spot and shifted the box to the station. The locals suspect it to be a safe locker in gold jewellery shops.
Many also suspect that thieves would have dumped it there after stealing the gold. The rusted locker is believed to be years old. Further investigation will be conducted into the incident, said the Neyyattinkara police.
