THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DGP has submitted the investigation report against MR Ajith Kumar in the controversy related to the disruption of the Thrissur Pooram. The report states that there was a serious lapse on the part of Ajith Kumar in the incident. The report also states that Ajith Kumar committed an official lapse.
Ajith Kumar had come to Thrissur as part of his official duties. Minister K Rajan had brought to his attention the problems that arose between the City Police Commissioner and the Devaswom office bearers. The investigation report also states that MR Ajith Kumar did not pick up the phone even after the problems arose, even though he was at the spot and the minister called him.
During the Thrissur Pooram, the police had created trouble by lathi-charge and restricting entry to the Pooram area by barricading the roads. The forcible removal of Devaswom employees, including the staff, also led to dissatisfaction. The procession and the Panchavadyam had to be abandoned halfway. The fireworks display that was supposed to take place in the night took place four hours late in the daylight. NDA candidate Suresh Gopi's arrival in 'Pooranagari' in an ambulance also sparked controversy. There were allegations that Suresh Gopi's victory in Thrissur was due to the disruption of the Pooram.
