THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister Suresh Gopi has provided his statement to investigators probing the disruption of last year’s Thrissur Pooram festival. The statement was recorded by DIG Thomson Jose at the minister’s residence in Thiruvananthapuram two days ago.
According to sources, Suresh Gopi told the probe team that it was the BJP workers who first informed him about the incident. Officials said his statement may be recorded again if additional clarity is required during the final review.
The investigation, now in its concluding phase, is expected to be wrapped up soon, with the final report likely to be submitted to the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) later this month. The inquiry is part of a three-tier investigation ordered by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. While two phases have already been completed, the ongoing probe is focused on uncovering any conspiracy behind the festival disturbance.
