KOLLAM: The perennial dissonance that led to the troubled family life reached its nadir on Monday with the tragic death of three in Kollam.
Archana was the daughter of the Ashokan-Mini couple. Even as a child, Archana was robbed of any care and love after her parents got separated. After she crossed the legal age, Archana started living with Vishnu in Oyoor. She had three children in this relationship. Life was far from perfect for Archana as she decided to split with Vishnu over differences. Ismail was her next partner. In the meantime, five cents of land in Anakkottoor was allotted under the LIFE project to her. Archana and her children had been living in an unfinished house for two years.
Archana, who works as an Ayurvedic therapist, concentrated her work mostly in Thrissur, Ernakulam and Wayanad. Archana goes to work after leaving her children with her mother, who lives in Anakkottoor. Whenever she gets back from work, Archana will be accompanied by a male partner. Sivakrishnan, an employee at a bar in Ernakulam, started to live with Archana just two months ago.
A heavy drinker, Sivakrishnan used to beat Archana for hiding his liquor bottles. Sivakrishnan, his friend Akshay and his wife Anju, along with Archana and their children, were at home on Sunday night. By 10 pm, Sivakrishnan was completely inebriated, so Archana hid the remaining liquor. This led to a scuffle, and Archana was beaten up by her partner. Archana recorded the marks of the beating and the wound on her lip on her phone. Sivakrishnan also used to torture her children. Having had enough, Archana threatened to jump into the well, and she walked her talk.
This is not the first time that Archana has performed this daring act out of rage. She attempted suicide by jumping into a well while living with her first husband, Vishnu, near Oyoor. She was rescued, but the fall resulted in a miscarriage as Archana was pregnant during that time. She did the same daring act while living with another partner, but escaped unhurt since the well was shallow.
On Monday. She jumped into the well near her house, but this time, the plot turned tragic. Not just her, but another two, including Sivakrishnan, lost their lives, which has now gripped the town of Neduvathoor in shock.
