Two children drown in swimming training center in Nedumangad

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two children, who went to bathe in the pool where training for swimming is being conducted, drowned. The incident happened at the training center at Venkavila in Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram. The two dead are Aaromal (13) and Shinil (14), natives of Kusarkode.


The accident occurred around 1:30 pm today. The children got inside after jumping the wall of the swimming pool where training is being conducted. It is reported that there were seven children in the group. Seeing two of them drowning, the rest informed the nearby auto stand. The fire force arrived and then took the children to the Nedumangad district hospital, but their lives could not be saved.


Swimming is trained here every morning and evening. The panchayat authorities have also appointed trainers for this purpose. The authorities said training is being provided here for children and adults.
