Vadakkanchery accident: Murder case against driver Jojo Pathrose, steps taken to cancel license

THRISSUR: The police have registered a murder case against the tourist bus driver in the accident where the bus rammed into a KSRTC bus in Vadakkancheri killing nine people. A case was registered against the bus driver Jojo Pathrose. His blood samples have been sent for testing to find out whether he was drunk at the time of the accident. Steps to cancel his license has started.

The GPS alert had reached the RT office four seconds before the accident. The alert came at 11.30.35. The bus collided with the KSRTC bus at 11.30.39 and the accident happened. The bus traveling at a speed of 97.7 kmph rammed into the rear of the superfast going in front of it. Some part of the KSRTC bus got stuck in the tourist bus.

The tourist bus, Luminous Holidays, which caused the accident, was fined four times for violating rules. Fine was not paid for three. With this, the motor vehicle department had blacklisted the bus. The bus was fined thrice for installing lights illegally. Was fined for wrong parking. The bus was registered at the RT Office in Kottayam in 2019 in the name of S Arun of Pambady Pangada Thekkemattom. A tour package agency in Piravom had leased the vehicle from him and was operating services.
