Woman trampled to death by elephant in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: A woman ws trampled to death by an elephant that had entered a residential area. The incident happened at Edavanna in Malappuram. The dead is Kalyani (68), wife of Chandran of Chathalloor. The incident happened Thursday morning at 10.30 am.

As there was a disturbance of elephants in the area, the forest guards had come to drive the elephant into the forest. Kalyani's grandchildren had gone to play in a nearby field. In the meantime, it is believed that the elephant chased by the forest guards may have attacked Kalyani. The body is kept in the mortuary of Manjeri Medical College Hospital.
