Worker sustains serious injuries in fall from ladder while attempting to fix leak in KSEB office

KOTTAYAM: A contract worker, who climbed to fix a leak on top of the KSEB office, fell down from the ladder and sustained injuries. The injured is K K Kunjumon (45) of Velloor and a worker of the office of KSEB Assistant Engineer in Kuruppanthara. The accident happened Friday morning at 9.30 am. Rainwater was falling from the sheeted roof above the ceiling. Kunjumon was climbing up the ladder and trying to remove the ceiling to fix the leak when he slipped and fell. Kunjumon, who suffered serious injuries on his head, face and hand, was immediately taken to a private hospital in Muttuchira by his colleagues.

The roof of the building has been leaking for a long time. The office was flooded with water due to the heavy rains that lashed yesterday. The Manjoor Panchayat had allocated Rs 5 lakh for the repair of the building and had completed the tender proceedings. The accident happened when the construction was about to start.
