KANNUR: Astrologer Madhavan Poduval responded to the controversy over CPM state secretary visiting him in Kannur the other day. Poduval admitted that MV Govindan had indeed visited him.

“We have been friends for years, and Govidnan came to meet me with his family after learning about my ill health. He never consulted me for any astrological purpose. BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, have also met me in the past. Adani, too, once came to visit.

Amit Shah came to check the horoscopes. The rumour of Govindan visiting me to check horoscopes is an outright lie,” said Madhavan Pdouval.

There were reports that some leaders were criticised in the CPM state committee for meeting a reputed astrologer in Kannur. Meanwhile, CPM leader AK Balan strongly shielded Govindan for visiting the astrologer, as he found no grave sin in keeping in touch with reputed personalities. Balan said it was common for communists to keep good relations with all sections in the society and critiqued Congress for relying on black magic and witchcraft ( a jab at former KPCC president K Sudhakaran).
